Opera mini, which is one of the best mobile browsers that has rocked the mobile browsing world in the past and even till this very moment.
Back then, Opera mini used to be the browser of preferred choice for most folks in their Nokia Symbian and Java phones.
One of the most important features of the Opera mini browser that made it the surfers’ choice then was its ability to render webpages in a shrink miniaturize manner, thereby making browsing as fast as possible. UC browser has just launched its desktop version Download to your PC Straight Away
When men started using Opera mini then, we joined the team of Opera mini user teams at the time of Opera mini version 4.0 with our old Nokia Symbian/Java phones and we all enjoyed every bit of browsing with Opera mini. Then, there was almost next to nothing as compared with the speed that Opera mini browser offers, and the likes of the UC browsers were almost nowhere to be found at that period.
As time goes on, later versions of Opera mini began to emerge, like Opera mini 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.5, 5.0 etc.
Since we know perfectly how to use the Opera mini browsers with its features and all the shortcut keys on the browser for even faster ways of browsing and moving round the browser, there was this very handy short-cut keys “# + 3” that takes one immediately either to the top or bottom of large/long mobile webpages.
As without the shortcut keys “# + 3” one has to scroll and scroll over and over again in order to get to the top or bottom of large/long mobile webpages.
It even gets more cumbersome when such a webpage has plenty comments, and now getting down to the bottom of the page, maybe to drop your on comment without the availability of the “# + 3” has not being anything next to easy.
Now the sad thing is that apart from those earlier Opera Mini versions of 4.0, 4.22, the upgraded versions of Opera mini, like the Opera mini 6.0 through the most current 8.0 versions, you will no longer find that action (scrolling to top or bottom of webpages) that the shortcut keys “# + 3” executes in those previous versions.
Rather, Opera has decided to replace the shortcut key “# + 3” with In-Searchaction in the newer version Opera mini, and which was also present in the older versions when you press the shortcut key “# + *”.
And now since they have wiped out the Scroll to top/bottom action, in their newer Opera mini browser versions, when you press the former shortcut keys “# + 3”, it brings out the In-search entry line, and when you then dial the “# + *” shortcut keys, no action is taken.
Though this step taken by Opera has kept many, including me wondering; because we all thought that one of the essences of upgrading or releasing newer versions of any app has been to further enhance the features of previous versions and to maintain and improve them on the newer versions.
But here, the reverse seems to be the case, as Opera unknowingly to them decided to kill the goose that lays the golden egg by excluding the Scroll to top/bottom of a page shortcut feature in the newer versions of Opera mini.
Finally, we are using this opportunity to call on the Opera developer to look back and see the harm they have caused Opera mini users by taking away such a unique feature from new versions of Opera mini, and rather they should plan to include it back in the shortcut menus in their future versions of Opera mini.
