Abstract:

This paper discuses meaning, content, and the necessity for improving the present teaching and learning standard of visual art in secondary schools in Nigeria. It identifies the basic differences between the academic curriculum and the teaching standard of visual arts. The maintenance of strong teaching and learning fraditions, its implications for fhe future of the art students and the basics for the application of higher teaching standads are also discussed.
