THE EFFECT OF INDUSTRIAL CONFLICT ON EMPLOYEES PRODUCTIVITY IN NIGERIA: A CASE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY OF BENIN
ABSTRACT
This research, ‘The Effect of Industrial Conflict on Employees Productivity in Nigeria: A Case Study of University of Benin’ should be seen as part of the general tool to reshapen the good working relationship between the employees and employers of labour. The expectation is that the effect would not only reduce intimidation and conflict between both parties, but would also place them in a better position to enjoy improved services.
This project work was not only based on finding the expression of industrial conflict in the public sector of Nigeria economy but also to examine, at what point workers engage in industrial conflict, who are those responsible for settling conflict and the role of government in conflict resolution. Five hypothesis were generated for testing in the study. Hypotheses one to five were confirmed. Frederick Taylor’s theory of scientific management was adopted as the theoretical framework of analysis for the study.
The research, also made certain recommendations or connection with best policies that will ensure improvement in the working environment and living conditions of employees and also to give them a
sense of belonging in the organization. This will bring about the attainment of improved productivity for achievement of a common goal in the workplace.
